Many puppies are abandoned because owners get frustrated
with them. This is very sad. Properly trained puppies have the potential to be
charming, happy and loving parts of any family. Making your puppy this way
doesn't have to be hard, if you invest the time to do it with some simple
steps.
Reward your puppy's good behavior. Once your puppy follows
your command, reward his behavior. If you get excited, the puppy will become
excited and everything will be out of control. Therefore, remain calm and
expect your puppy to act calm. Once this is accomplished, reward your puppy.
You need to know if there are other puppies around when you
are out walking your puppy. Not all puppies are friendly, and not all owners
are responsible. If you encounter an antisocial or aggressive animal, make sure
your puppy stays away from it.
The first step in leash training a young puppy is to get him
or her used to the collar during play. Having the puppy comfortable in wearing
its collar is crucial and it will be able to give the puppy its identification
in case it takes it off.
To train your puppy well, you must not use a leash that is
too tight. This gives your puppy the sense that it should always be pulling.
This is an undesirable response. You always have to ensure the leash is
comfortable with sufficient slack to be useful.
Give plenty of affection to your puppy. It is important to

the world.
A well-fed puppy that has plenty of fun play toys is less
likely to dig in the trash. Empty your trash frequently and don't put things
they like, such as bones, in it. When you're not at home, crate your puppy or
make sure there is no trash in the house.
When crate training a puppy, try to make your puppy feel
like the crate is his home. Leave food near or inside the crate and leave the
door open. This will give your puppy a positive association with the crate.
If you travel with your puppies, pack your puppy's needs for
sleep, toileting and sleeping. Pack his feeding bowls, potty bags, toys,
blankets and everything else needed for his care and comfort. It is often just
as easy to buy a bag of food once you reach your destination as it is to pack
it up and bring it along.
Some tricks may be beyond the capability of an older pet.
Always consult your veterinarian before beginning a new training program. If
your pet has problems with their bones or muscles, you should not expect them
to be very active. Training your puppy keeps his mind going, and older puppies
benefit from this. Do make sure that your puppy is not in pain when engaging in
exercise and training sessions.
Train your puppy by reinforcing positive behavior. Never use
punishment; instead, don't reinforce any bad behavior. Being negative may cause
the puppy to become afraid. Positive reinforcement will work wonders to instill
good behavior in your puppy.
It terms of barking, take note of the sorts of things that
cause your puppy to bark a great deal. Knowing what triggers the behavior can
help you deal with it constructively. For example, invite a friend over to
assist you in training your puppy if he always barks when that particular
friend is around.
